LEADERSHIP
Dr. Connelly has provided educational leadership to help set direction and chart course for an urban
school system as a member of the senior leadership team for a district with 187 schools, 19,000
employees, and 160,000+ students and helped with the management of a $1.62 billion dollar district
budget. He is now the Superintendent of the Cumberland County Schools which serves over 50,000
students and has 87 schools. He also serves in the faith community as Pastor of the St. Augusta
Baptist Church in Fuquay-Varina, NC and has served as moderator of the Wake Baptist Association
of Churches providing leadership to 54 churches.
