Celebrating Black History: Sheriff Roderick Virgil

Roderick Virgil is a lifelong resident of Hoke County. In 2022 he was elected as the Hoke County  Sheriff.  His professional career is one of commitment to the community and service in many capacities including volunteering with the Hoke County Rescue Squad and Hillcrest Fire Department since 1999. He has also served on the Hoke County Sheriff’s Special Emergency Response Team (SERT) as a reserve  deputy and tactical medic from 2009 to 2021. A man of many talents, Sheriff Roderick Virgil is also a gifted pianist and a playwright having penned Too Many Jobs, a play hosted in Raeford and Fayetteville in  2016.
