Back on your airwaves, “OJ, The Lady with the Juice” is no stranger!! You can’t talk about radio in the Cape Fear Region without saying the name Omega Jones. Her voice is as distinctive as her name. This Lumberton, N.C. native has dominated the airwaves in the region for over 25 years.
Omega was raised by her father and her grandmother who instilled the values she holds so high to this day…God, family, hard work and a good education.
While attending UNC-P, Omega was told by a local announcer that she had a good radio voice. After experimenting with the craft, she decided to pursue radio as a career.
Omega later enrolled into the Radio Broadcasting curriculum at Central Carolina Community College where she graduated near the top of her class. This was an outstanding achievement because black female radio announcers were a rarity in those days.
Omega is founder and CEO of Omega Health and Outreach, a foundation that was established to focus on health literacy, women’s health issues and empowering women to be successful physically, mentally and spiritually.
As a breast cancer survivor and heart disease advocate, Omega has taken the same drive and tenacity that made her successful in broadcasting and has applied it to her new passion, sharing her healing testimonies, the importance of breast cancer early detection, and heart disease in women.
